Community Health Access for Addiction & Mental Healthcare Project
An ombudsman program for New Yorkers seeking substance use disorder and mental health services. An ombudsman program can help investigate and resolve complaints and violations of rights. We represent individuals and help advocate for them.
Our Program
We can help you by:
- Lisenting to your concerns and complaints, and connecting you to network of agencies, including legal and community based organizations to assist with rectifying barriers to treatment
- Educating you about your rights to services and empower you to advocate for yourself with treatment providers to address your insurance concerns
- Address barriers to treatment and get the most from your insurance coverage for substance use disorder and mental health services
Services
FCA staff may be able to resolve your concern immediately or enlist expertise of CHAMP legal, substance use disorder, or mental health specialists. CHAMP assists with addressing the following issues:
- Access to treatment
- Denial of services
- Access to medication
- Parity/coverage discrimination issues
- System navigation
- Medical benefits
- Enrollment referral
- Legal assistance for insurance appeals
