OVS Social Work Initiative

Serving those affected by gun violence, because no one should have to heal alone.

Our Program

Working closely with the SNUG program, the OVS Social Work program bridges the service gap between community members that have been impacted by crime or violence and the state Office of Victim Services (OVS). This innovative partnership between DCJS and OVS works to promote healing and resiliency in individuals and families, specifically those of color, by empowering them to address the trauma they have endured and improving their access to victim services.

  • Assist with completing & submitting Office of Victim Services applications
  • Case management & trauma informed therapy
  • Specialize in working with victims of shootings and surviving family members of those killed by gun violence

Eligibility

  • Any victim of Crime
  • Any resident of Nassau County
  • Anyone with a past or current history of trauma
