My name is Wendelyn Crystal Martinez and I attend FCA’s clinic located in Hicksville. I enjoy listening to music, being outdoors, going to state parks and spending time with my family. I’m currently in recovery for substance use, psychiatric support, and receive supportive group/individual counseling sessions. I’m pleased to announce with FCA’s support, Mercy Hall Sober House and AA meetings, I have been sober for 6 months!
Since starting with FCA, I enjoy attending the trauma and recovery-oriented groups. What I enjoy about the groups are the open format where we are allowed to speak about everything we are feeling. The clinicians appear very caring and are prepared with an agenda for each meeting. During groups, we are encouraged to provide feedback to the leader and groups are always creative. This is not always the case in other programs. I also enjoy meeting with other peers that are here for recovery. I believe FCA is one the best treatment and recovery centers in Long Island. I will continue to maintain my sobriety and learn new coping skills on how to deal with daily life.
