FCA Prevention Team
OASAS Prevention works with the community and local school districts to provide parent education groups as well as individual counseling for populations identified as at risk for substance use, truancy, legal issues, and/or family conflict. We work to establish relationships with community-based organizations through participation in coalition meetings to develop environmental strategies designed to prevent substance use and related consequences specifically for at-risk youth populations.
Our prevention services are free for:
- Young and first-time parents
- Children, adolescents and parents who need support to avoid truancy and substance use issues
- Young adults with a first-time offense
- Court referrals and CPS.
Our Target population for individual counseling is from ages 11 thru 22
Our Target population for parenting education groups are from ages 20 thru 65+ because some caretakers may be grand-parents
