GARDEN CITY, NEW YORK, January 2025 Family & Children’s Association (FCA), one of Long Island’s largest nonprofit health and human services organizations, recently received $265,000 in start-up funding from New York State to establish a new Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in Nassau and Suffolk counties. This funding, part of a $3.5 million start-up grant from the New York State Office of Mental Health, will establish 13 Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics across the state, with six located downstate and seven upstate.”
“FCA is excited to have obtained this competitive funding. We extend our gratitude to New York State and eagerly anticipate meeting the increasing demand for integrated mental health and substance use disorder services for Long Islanders,” said FCA President and CEO Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds. “People often struggle with mental health conditions, substance use disorders and accessing health care simultaneously and they shouldn’t have to travel to three different locations to get complete care.”
Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics provide comprehensive services and coordinate care across behavioral, physical health, and social service systems. These clinics ensure that everyone, no matter their financial situation, where they live, or their age, can access mental health and substance use services.
FCA currently runs two clinics located in Hempstead and Hicksville, serving individuals and families. By adding the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic designation, when completed, FCA can bridge the service gap for all Long Islanders. The designation is expected to be completed by July 1, 2025, and will provide care across one’s lifespan.
