May 23, 2022 | Press Release

Garden City, N.Y., May 25, 2022 – FCA, a leading health and human services nonprofit organization on Long Island, recently elected attorney Timothy D. Sini to its Board of Trustees. Sini is the former Suffolk County District Attorney and before that served as Assistant United States Attorney and Suffolk County Police Commissioner. He is currently a partner in the Litigation Department and Government Investigations & White-Collar Defense practice at Nixon Peabody in Jericho.

“Tim’s longstanding experience in criminal justice, his leadership in addressing the opioid crisis and his unwavering commitment to Long Island will serve FCA well as we take on new challenges and extend our reach,” said FCA President/CEO Dr. Jeffrey L. Reynolds.

Sini, for his part, was equally enthusiastic about his board post.  “I am very excited to join the board of FCA and be a part of this incredible team and its mission. As a former federal prosecutor, Police Commissioner and District Attorney, I know how important FCA is to the health and safety of our community. Each and every day its dedicated staff is in the trenches protecting the most vulnerable. I want to thank the FCA board and Dr. Reynolds for the opportunity to be a part of this important work.”

As District Attorney for Suffolk County,  Sini created the Special Narcotics Bureau to investigate and prosecute large scale drug trafficking organizations, resulting in a record number of Operating as a Major Trafficker charges, the top felony drug count under New York law. His office prosecuted six defendants with homicide charges for causing fatal overdoses.

He also launched a number of criminal justice initiatives, including diversion programs for those suffering from drug addiction, Suffolk County’s first Hate Crimes Task Force and an Office of Immigrant Affairs.

Drew Crowley, Chair of FCA’s Board of Trustees, remarked, “We place tremendous value on the diversity of experience our trustees bring to our board.  Tim’s background in our criminal justice system, his proven leadership and his understanding of and dedication to the elimination of some of the root causes of criminal activity makes him a welcome addition to our board.”

A native Long Islander, Tim Sini lives with his wife and three children in Babylon.
